One-on-one coaching
Career Coaching
Whatever is standing between you and the work you want, it is rarely a shortage of ability. Coaching starts with what you already have, then names what is in the way.
We help clients:
- Identify your personal strengths
- Clarify your goals
- Navigate complex career paths with confidence
Five stages, not a straight line
Some clients start at the beginning. Others start at a later stage, reaching for a role they haven’t held before rather than recovering from a layoff. We find out where you actually are on the first call.
Disruption
The layoff, the restructuring, the plateau that cracked things open. Before reacting to it, we name what actually happened. We check in on where your energy is right now, using an Energy Leadership Index assessment, not to diagnose you, just to have a starting point to measure against later.
Letting Go
Grief for the title, the team, the identity built over years of public service is real here, and so is the old internal voice that gets louder right when you need it quietest. We name that voice specifically, build a plan for catching it, and start pointing you toward what you want next, not just what you’re leaving.
Some of what holds you back is real. Some of it only looks real.
The Messy Middle
Networking, interviews, rejection, translating government experience into language the private sector actually understands. We shape your search strategy around how you naturally operate (see ELI & DiSC) and build a real target profile: the skills that carry over, the roles worth pursuing, what your target industry is actually solving for, and a compensation number that isn’t a guess.
The Reckoning
If your title disappeared tomorrow, who would you still be? This is the center of the work. Your resume moves forward in parallel with a resume writer, informed by everything above, while here, we sit with the identity question directly.
The Next Chapter
New role, new venture, or a changed relationship with the one you’re in. Landing with more self-awareness than you left with. We revisit where your energy started and check what’s actually shifted, then turn what you learned into habits that outlast the search.

Frequently asked questions
What does career coaching at Empowergize U help with?
Not resume polish. A structured way through everything a career transition actually asks of you, practical and identity-level at once. A resume writer handles the resume in parallel, so sessions stay focused on the strategy and identity work a resume alone can't do.
What's the time commitment?
Sessions run every two weeks, with reflection work between them to keep momentum going. Total length varies by which stages you need. We won't lock you into a fixed number before we've talked.
I don't have a layoff behind me. I'm reaching for something new. Does this still apply?
Yes. Not everyone starts at Disruption. If you're reaching forward rather than recovering from something, we start wherever you actually are.
What does this cost?
Investment depends on scope. That's part of the first conversation, not something to guess at from a page.
